A.H.W.O.S.G.
This really has nothing to do with India. But neither did my Kuala Lumpur posts, did they? Anyway, just finished A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. I know, I'm about 7 years late, but if you haven't read it you really need to. For someone my age, its a pretty amazing time capsule of stumbling through your twenties in the 90's. It hits on lots of important social events of our 20somethings, like early Vince Vaughn career to how gross Puck on Real World San Francisco is. And, its very postmodern, regularly breaking the 4th wall with characters breaking out of character and recognizing they are out of character, to dialog mentioning they are in a book, and all sorts of other clever devices. And I mean clever in the best way possible, not the Fight Club sort of clever. There are moments when he is panicking in the book that read like a stream of consciousness, and parts where he schizophrenically hops from the reality of the moment to where his mind is and back and forth and back again.
Its a fascinating read, well deserving of its Pulitzer nomination, and I highly recommend.
